Call for Abstracts

Announcements regarding abstract acceptance will be made in December 2008.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the Boston International
Forum X: Primary Care Research on Low Back Pain invited researchers to submit abstracts for scientific presentations. Abstract submissions were accepted
September 15, 2008, through October 31, 2008.
Submission guidelines:
Abstracts must represent original scientific material
that has not been published or presented at other national or international meetings.
Abstracts should address an important issue in back pain research and practice.
Preference will be given to abstracts that address one of the four themes of the conference, listed below, as well as innovative approaches or new insights:
Theme 1: What are the outcomes of LBP, and how do they inter-relate? Stakeholder perspectives and models for understanding
Theme 2: What factors are related to outcomes? Risk factors, co-morbidities, subgroups and the like
Theme 3: How can we improve outcomes? Including new approaches and what we might learn from other disciplines
Theme 4: How can we translate research to practice? Insight from theorists, researchers and clinicians
Abstracts should not exceed 500 words (5,000
characters) and must contain the following headings: Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Abstracts may be submitted as a POSTER presentation, ORAL presentation, or either POSTER or ORAL presentation. Poster presentations will require that an
author be present at the poster for approximately one hour for discussion and comment. A limited number of abstracts will be chosen for plenary oral
presentations (approximately 10 - 20 minutes each).
Abstracts must be submitted in English.
No tables or illustrations may be included in abstracts.
Deadline for abstract submission will be October 31, 2008 (17:00 US Eastern DST).
Abstracts will be reviewed by at least two members of the Local or International Organizing Committees. Notice of acceptance will be sent by email in
early December 2008.
